Re-Thinking ABC’s Lost

Let’s start with this fact: ABC’s Lost is a television show. ABC makes money based on how long and how successful the show runs.
The goal of the castaways is to get off the island. That’s they’re whole deal. If they ever do, the show is over. So until that happens, they’re stuck on this weird island.
Obviously once they figure out what the island is, and why everything is happening the way it is, they’ll be able to get off of the island. So basically, we’re not going to have any real answers until the last season. Which is when they’ll really start figuring things out, and finally get off the island.
All these theories, including mine, are really not that helpful because they assume that whatever happens is going to resolve based on what happens in the first couple seasons. If Lost remains successful we won’t know what’s happening for a long long time.
It’s not a movie, or a mini-series. I really wish it were, so I wouldn’t have to watch all these episodes inbetween. Still, it’s fun to try and guess what’s going to happen next. But there’s no way we’re ever going to have any kind of clue until the show comes to an end.
