Mudslide

Jerry FalwellI’m just waiting for Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson to say what the Philippines did to deserve the wrath of God. It’s sad that two of the most powerful evangelical Christians in America are those two. The mudslides, just like the tsunami, Katrina, and 9/11 are horrible tragedies, not divine punishment. Maybe somebody needs to read some Job, or Ecclesiastes.

…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:11

Time and Chance.

Here are some “brilliant” quotes.

  1. What about the apocalyptic point of view in Revelations and other books. Why can’t current disasters be part of a bigger picture, Robertson and Falwell would argue that.

I also don’t see other noted biblical scholars rebuking their comments, only left-wing secularist.
