Mudslide

Jerry FalwellI’m just waiting for Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson to say what the Philippines did to deserve the wrath of God. It’s sad that two of the most powerful evangelical Christians in America are those two. The mudslides, just like the tsunami, Katrina, and 9/11 are horrible tragedies, not divine punishment. Maybe somebody needs to read some Job, or Ecclesiastes.

…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:11

Time and Chance.

Here are some “brilliant” quotes.

Jesus rejected the American dream

    American Dream

The American Dream isn’t anything better than a self-centered concept of prosperity. For many Americans, myself included, it’s not even a possibility. I’ll have acquired too much debt after my schooling to ever have my own house with a yard and a dog and a family. Not that I really want it, but I’m at least aware that it’s not financially feasable for me. That in itself isn’t really that bad though. It’s no different than a devout existentialism, which isn’t that bad. What’s bad about the American Dream is that it’s so forced on us from a young age, that any alternative lifestyle is seen as deviant. Communal living, Monastic life, Chastity, and Hermitages should be reverred as pious lifestyle choices, but instead are frowned upon by society at large. Don’t believe me? It’s near impossible to become Pastor of a church without a Family

As far as Christianity goes, The American Dream is particularly evil because it presents itself as a reasonable compromise. I mean, part of the American Dream means going to church on sunday morning. Unfortunately, Jesus never asked anyone to go to church. In reality, the American Dream in no way relates to the life of service Jesus encourages. Not only that, but the emphasis on poverty in the New Testament is particularly contrary to the financial security of the American Dream.

Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who are hungry now,
for you will be filled.
But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.
Woe to you who are full now,
for you will be hungry.

Israel cuts off Palestine

Crazy Leader Hamas GuyIn a move that seems fair to me, Israel cut off Palestine. No wonder, take a look one of the Terrorist leaders that is now apart of the government.

“Acting Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday that his government will not hold contacts with any Palestinian government in which Hamas plays a role. Israel’s Cabinet Sunday immediately froze funds to the Palestinian Authority. - CNN”

Barry Bonds, Good Bye!!!.

Barry Bonds Photo - Roid' BoyGood Bye Berry Bonds. I can’t wait till Barry is gone. I just can’t stand Barry’s pompous, roided, liar. He was a great baseball player. He deserves a lot of credit throughout his career, but that last handful of years were despicable. We all know he lied about drug use, we all know he shouldn’t have broke the home run record, we all know he doesn’t deserve to beat Hank Aaron’s record. At least he knows he’s a liar, even though he won’t actually admit it.

“I love the game of baseball itself, but I don’t like what it’s turned out to be. I’m not mad at anybody. It’s just that right now I am not proud to be a baseball player.” ” — Barry Bonds told USA Today

Daytona 500 = One Long Ad

Daytona 500 Epic GuideI’ve started watching the NASCAR Daytona 500, and it kind of sucks. It has a couple of major detractions. First it’s to long. It should be cut together to show only the good parts, crashes, the end, and anytime Jeff Gordon gets passed. In some ways, its exactly like basketball, you only need to watch the last two minutes, everything before that doesn’t matter.

The other thing, it has way too many commercials. In my estimation, 250 laps are televised, 250 laps are commercials. It seems that all the good action happens during the commercial.

NASCAR is just a money whore; every square inch is an advertisement. What happened to “run what ya’ brung” on the beach?

Ice Dancing?? Where’s my Football

Filed Under (Sports) by Jon on 18-02-2006

Ice Dancing SucksThe Winter Olympics suck, almost none of it could be considered a sport, mostly a bunch of cold games. What takes the cake is Ice Dancing, WTF! is that? Give me Flute and the drop kick any day! Check this hairy ape out on the left, is he mounting that chick on the ice? Ice Dancing doesn’t even have jumping, or spinning or falling for that matter. Michelle Kwan can atleast jump with her gimpy leg. Football is all I want. Not even fantasy baseball will help my heavy heart. Oh ya, I called the Superbowl.

Crash and Burn Lindsey Jacobellis

Crash and BurnAfter a long conversation at lunch about the definition of “Sport”, I’ve decided that Snowboard Cross, is a sport. Especially since our USA chick, Lindsey Jacobellis, pulled a “Method Air” on the final streach and crashed out of the gold. Not to Smart! She got the silver, so she’s go that going for her.

Follow-up on L and C

Whether liberal or conservative, right wing or left wing, I stand on the side of common sense, hard work, you get what you have coming to you.  I’m tired of “I” - Idiots, Ignoramuses, and Independents.  I also think every spot in Government should have term limits!!!!  You show me a politician that has been in office for 10 years and I’ll show you someone who doesn’t listen, who like pork, and is lost in their own ethos.

food for thought

I didn’t feel like writing today, so I got a quick point, that you should all look at.  Liberal and laziness both start with an “L”.  Coincidence?  Just think about it.

P.S. Lameo, also starts with an “L”.  Think about it.  Coincidence?
