Epicharmus was a Greek philosopher and dramatist who is credited as being one of the first comic writers. He is often called Epicharmus of Kos and lived circa 540-450 before Christ. His comic writing from was the origins of “Doric Comedy”; meaning the Greek dialect and also meaning Dorian mode, which is a music theory based on intervals of tones followed by whole tones. He also is credit with Sicilian comic forms, which refers to Italian, or the Sicilian Islands.
In his early life, Epicharmus worked as a poet, and his topics ranged from exhortations against intoxication and laziness. He can be quoted,
“Judgment, not passion should prevail.” – Wikipedia – Epicharmus
More on Epicharmus of Kos

We like to say bce which means before the common era instead of “Before Christ”, since not everyone believes that Jesus was the Christ.
Ironically, the dating system still works the same in that it is based off Jesus’ existence, but at least we’re not imposing faith statements on people. I suppose one could say BJ for “before Jesus” and then that would work. Whatever, I’m bored and I’m sure this will rile Scott up. Which is my favorite thing to do nowadays.
